Will the same happen for families of Heysel victims now?

Where as if it was me, I'd carved the other bloke up there and then in the pub

I agree that the deaths were tragic and when I think of the children, its upsetting.
The thing that gets me though or what I can't understand is this (told in a pub joke formula)
2 scousers go into pub.
1 says "my beautiful teenage girl died at weekend, fucking suffocated/squashed at a football match"
The other says "yeah mate, I heard that, I was there actually. No ticket but there was a gate open so me and my mates crammed in through to try and watch the game"
1st one says "oh Jesus, what were u doing in there u twat, u and ur mates killed my daughter albeit unintentionally"
The other says "well the gates got opened so we thought fuck it. They got opened cos so many of us turned up with no ticket and tried to break in that the old bill had no choice, soz about ur daughter though."
1st one says "not ur fault mate, its the old bill. Im just gutted u never got to see the game in the end for nothing"
They both spend the rest of the day singing "fuck the old bill"

Or £130 if it’s got a courtyard garden.

Seems there were other instances and warnings before Hillsborough.
My thoughts are those scousers died and as a result fans were safer after that. It was a disaster waiting to happen somewhere.

During the eighties there were a whole host of other disasters in this country where people died. It took that to make things safer for others.

Revenge against an easily labelled and identified scapegoat then.

This disaster was caused by a whole chain of events and to get full closure each and everyone in and of those links in that chain need to be identified and held fully to account.

This is the exact opposite of what is happening: whole sections of those responsible are "keeping their heads down" hoping that this police prosecution verdict will be the end of it and they get away with murder - literally.

Mike, no I’d fight quietly and not make a fuss, wouldn’t want to annoy anyone, it was only my kid that died, it’s not like it was important.

If my kid was killed and I felt the people responsible had got away with it, I wouldn’t care what some nobodies on another teams forum thought, I’d be kicking up as big a stink as possible and keep it in the news as much and as long as possible in the hope I get them punished but at the very least that they continue to be publicly shamed for the rest of their days.

But why would you insist on having that fight, in public, in MY face every few days?

You're more likely to piss me off rather than garnish any of my time/support/sympathy by doing so.

I'm no fan of the mickeys and yea it seems like every week 'H' is mentioned, but some in the old bill, and establishment have wriggled them selves out of this. If it had be my son there, I'd still be fighting.

Whens the movie coming out? Hope they have good cross section of actors, the Police, Stewards and those in Authority can ALL be played by middle aged white men, the victims by a cultural diverse selection of black and Asian actors with a token scouser………

On a more series note, this was an absolute tragedy for the people and families affected, but quite why some people keep dragging it up is getting counter productive now? They have had inquests, a public enquiry, people have been held to account, memorials built isn’t it about time they just let those poor people who died rest in piece, and let the familys get on with lives without having this dragged up again and again.

30 of the victims were 18 or younger. Just kids. It’s sad that grown men make jokes about their deaths.

As compensation the local council are giving them a house in the Anfield area.

Or for those that would that would prefer the cash equivalent, £126.50

Terraces have always been packed to the brim look at the archive of games back in the last century no-one should attend a game and lose their life its tragic. But History around Liverpool pointsto proof of their behaviour, Heysel,Hillsborogh and theiving on the continent for 2 decades. The Apple does not fall from the tree. What other English/British/European club have suffered the same issues and loss of life

We were also in the North Bank Percy couldn't even get my fags out of my pocket :-)

Re: Compensation for famiiles of Hillsborough victims
I’ve no love for scouse but looking at it objectively they went to watch a football match and never came home due to something that was easily avoidable. On what planet wouldn’t their families be entitled to some compo?

Re: Compensation for famiiles of Hillsborough victims
I was in that one at Loftus Road. Had there been fences it could have been another Hillsborough.

QPR blamed us but I knew someone who worked at Loftus Road and he said it was entirely down to QPR for effectively selling our end out twice over. Something they could not own up to.

The worst bit was being stuck in that concrete tunnel for about 15 minutes. Couldn't move an inch.

Re: Compensation for famiiles of Hillsborough victims
Anyone in that crush at Loftus Road would have thanked the heavens there was no fencing. I had fuck all control for what seemed like an eternity though, and almost shat a brick. Some around me already had. What a horrific way to go.

As for Hillsborough, it wasn't just the fencing, there were a catalogue of fuck ups by OB, all covered up of course. And still no cunt has been held accountable.

Any Old Iron 4:45 Sat Jun 5
Re: Compensation for famiiles of Hillsborough victims
Well the compo obviously comes from the taxpayer i.e. you and me. It never comes out of the pockets of government employees (this time plod) whatever the circumstances.

But the main reason for the 96 deaths was the fencing. If the fence hadn't been there no one would have died. It's those responsible for the fences who should be punished.

Like others I've stood on the terraces since '62 and have experienced plenty of scary moments and seen some shocking violence at close hand. But I've never felt concerned at the Boleyn because we never had fences.

It was really bad for the 1964 Sixth round FA Cup tie at home to Burnley Percy unofficially well over 40,000 Upton Park was heaving.
